A Parisian Inspired Escape in the Hamptons

Alder and Tweed is thrilled to have been selected to design an intimate dining space that is bold yet elegant for this year's Hamptons Holiday House showhouse! We love any chance to get our creative juices flowing and are deeply inspired and honored to support this event's cause of breast cancer research. We admire the courage of those facing breast cancer and are eager to give back through this incredible event. We’re equally excited about the opportunity to present fresh ideas and concepts in design, alongside some of the industry’s most prominent designers. Here’s a sneak peek into our concept and the inspiration that guided our dining room design.

The Inspiration

Our design draws inspiration from an unforgettable evening spent at a chic Parisian restaurant, aiming to create a warm, loungy, and intimate atmosphere that feels fresh and unexpected. We envisioned the space as that cozy corner booth at your favorite bistro that you never want to leave, sitting for hours laughing with friends and making memories. The iconic Girafe restaurant in Paris, known for its beauty and comfort, showed us how an intimate dining experience can set the tone for a memorable evening, and we look forward to bringing some of that same magic to our design.

The Vision

Our design captures the essence of an endless summer vacation, blending edgy moments with the inviting elements essential for a beachside home in the Hamptons. Inspired by current fashion trends and a mix of vintage touches, we incorporated contemporary colors, shapes, and patterns that reflect the latest runway styles. Drawing inspiration from classic Parisian cafes and luxurious dinner parties, we created a scheme that perfectly balances modern flair with timeless charm.

The Palette

Our vision for the dining room design is to evoke the feeling of a cozy corner booth in your favorite Parisian restaurant. We embrace an unexpected blend of edgy patterns with traditional fabrics to create a fresh yet sophisticated space. To achieve this, we incorporated textural fabrics for comfortable seating and experimented with bold patterns and color in the wall coverings, accessories and pillows.

Here’s a first look into how we envision this stunning dining space coming together. Featuring this gorgeous custom banquette and bar cabinet from Kostas Upholstery, a beautiful handwoven rug with metallic accents from Stark, and a bold mix of wall coverings from Arte, every corner of this room is flowing with visual interest.
